Sending files or documents from a PC to a Kindle e-reader just got easier. Amazon on Thursday released a new application called “Send to Kindle” that enables Kindle owners to easily transfer files from their Windows PCs directly to their Kindle reader. “Send to Kindle” is available to PC users as a free download and support for Mac will be coming soon.
We’ve covered various ways to transfer documents to Kindle, including transferring files by connecting Kindle to your computer and sending files to your Kindle email address. “Send to Kindle” is all set to simplify the process. Here’s how you do it:
- Download and install this Send to Kindle install file.
- From Windows Explorer, simply right click on one or more documents and choose Send to Kindle.
- From any Windows application that can print, select Print and choose Send to Kindle (documents are delivered in PDF format).
- Choose to archive documents in your Kindle Library, where you can re-download them conveniently anywhere at any time.

Support is available for a number of different file formats, PDF, .doc, .rtf or .txt files. Various image files can also be sent, including .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp.
