Bought another iPhone and want to move Contacts from iPhone to iPhone? Well, it is very easy. In fact, moving contacts from iPhone ot iPhone makes sense because your iPhone lets you keep a lengthy list of contacts with details like phone numbers, email addresses, mailing addresses, websites and even Twitter accounts at one single place.
To move Contacts from iPhone to iPhone, you will need to sync the first iPhone’s contacts with a computer, then sync that computer with the second iPhone. Items you will need for the purpose:
- Mac or PC with iTunes
- iPhone USB cable
Open the iTunes software program on your computer.
Open the “Preferences” settings. This is located under the “iTunes” menu in a Mac and under the “Edit” menu on a PC.
This is the most important step as you need to first change your Sync preferences so that you do not end up loosing your apps and other valuable data. Click the “Devices” tab in “Preferences,” then ensure that there is a check in the checkbox next to “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically,” then click “OK.” Later on you can change the option back if you so prefer.
Sync Contacts from iPhone to iPhone
Take the iPhone with the contacts you’re syncing onto the other phone and connect it to your computer with the USB cable.
Select your iPhone in iTunes and ensure that there is a check in the checkbox labeled “Sync Address Book contacts.” Then select which contacts you want to transfer to the other iPhone; you can select “All Contacts” or select specific groups on your phone.
Deselect all other sync options in the “Info” tab.
Click “Apply” in the bottom-right corner of iTunes. Sync process will begin and a copy of your Contacts will be created in your computer. If you have never synced this iPhone with iTunes, iTunes will ask you if the contacts should merge between your computer and the iPhone, overwrite the iPhone’s contacts or overwrite the computer’s contacts. Choose either to merge the contacts or overwrite the computer’s contacts. If there are no contacts on your computer, you can select the merge option.
Unplug the USB cable from the iPhone and attach the second iPhone and repeat the steps illustrated from Step 1.
When you select to sync Address Book and click “Apply” – iTunes will likely ask you again about merging or overwriting. Select overwriting the phone’s contacts if you want to replace that iPhone’s existing contacts with the new contact list. Otherwise select the merge option.
