Amazing how much technology has progressed in last few years that it feels like the digital world has been here ever since. Many old physical media storage solutions are increasingly getting phased out and collecting dust. If you have a collection of slides you want to preserve and display, your best option is to convert them to digital media.

There are many slide conversion services that will convert your slides to digital images for a fee, or you can scan the slides at home and create your own digital images.

Instructions to Convert Slides to Digital Media
Step 1
Check if your scanner is capable of scanning slides. Many home or office scanners claim to be able to scan slides, but the end quality may be poor. Purchase a dedicated slide scanner if you need to make digital copies of a large collection of slides at high quality. HP Scanjet G4050 is a hugely popular scanner, which creates high resolution images from slides.
Step 2
To get the clearest possible image from your scanner, make sure to clean the glass beforehand with a soft, lint-free cloth that has been sprayed with a mild glass cleaner.
Step 3
Load the slide into the scanner. Select the resolution you decided on earlier, adjust the scanner settings appropriately, and scan the slide.
Step 4
Adjust the settings and scan the slide again if you are unsatisfied with the first images.
Step 5
Make adjustments to the digital image in an image editing program such as Photoshop to more closely match the digital image with the original slide. HP Scanjet G4050 scanners come with software that makes it easy to restore faded color, adjust color and brightness, remove dust and scratches, and more.
