Ctl+ Alt + Del is the one of the most popular and widely used Hot key for Windows Users. This hot key activates Windows Task Manager which allows you to monitor OS processes and kill any problematic one. You can also create you own hot keys to enable applications or any program that you have developed.

I used Hot Keys most of the time as it saves effort in going to actual program executable to run it. You can create hot keys to execute any program like Open your favorite folder , open internet browser, start media player etc.

1. Create a shortcut of the program

If you have installed any application like Firefox, Google Chrome etc, then shortcut is created on desktop. For other application, find their executable(mostly in C:Program Files) and then create a shortcut. If you want to create a hot key to open any program or folder, firstly you need to create a shortcut by right clicking and then selecting Send to > Desktop (Create Shortcut).

2. Set the Hot Key for the Shortcut

Right Click the Shortcut key and then open the Properties > Shortcut. There is a field ‘Shortcut‘, with value as ‘None‘. Put your cursor there and then press any key that you want to use as a hot key. For e.g. You pressed Alphabet ‘F’ , then your shortcut will automatically become ‘Ctl + Alt + F’. You can choose any alphabet you want for your new hot key. Click ‘Ok’ and you’re done.

Now try to press your new hot Key combination that you just created and your application will be launced. This tip will definitely help you increase your productivity.
