If you discover that a particular app icon has disappeared (including the default Apps from Apple) from your iPhone or iPad, do not worry a bit. Getting back the App Store app is as easy as making it disappear. This tip is valid for any of the following situation only:
- Safari app missing
- YouTube app missing
- Camera app missing
- FaceTime app missing
- iTunes app missing
- App Store app missing
Below screenshot shows the missing App Store app in iPhone. Please note that exactly same procedure applies for iPad as well.
To get back the App Store app, simply navigate to Settings -> General -> Restrictions. Provide the password and you will see a screen similar to the below one. If this is the first time you have entered the restrictions area you will be prompted to set a four digit password.
This screenshot shows that both the “Installing Apps” and “Deleting Apps” options are OFF.
To get back the missing App Store app – just slide the Installing Apps to ON. You can also slide Deleting Apps option to ON. I like to keep the Deleting Apps option OFF so that my kid does not delete an app by mistake. If you turn ON “Deleting Apps” only – you will see the App Store app icon, but you won’t be able to download any app. You will only be able to delete existing apps.
Once you have Installing Apps restriction ON, you will be able to locate your missing App Store app icon.
Same procedure can be used to hide any app from view. For example, whenever traveling, I like to keep YouTube Restrictions to OFF to avoid my kid from consuming all my monthly data plan limit.
